Welcome to 'The 12 Days of Christmas in Washington' book blog.

The 12 Days of Christmas in Washington is a new book for children and families by author and illustrator John Nez, who lives in Seattle.

This new books tells the story of a fun filled trip across the state of Washington with Molly and her cousin Max who is visiting over the holidays.

On each page the two cousins visit a new place in Washington and collect fanciful gifts that make part of a song in the style of 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'.

Ready to greet you are 12 boats a-blinking, 11 skiers swooshing, 10 apples gleaming, 9 cowboys crooning and much more from the Evergreen State.

Welcome to the book blog of 'The 12 Days of Christmas in Washington'.

I hope you get a chance to see this book in a local bookstore and enjoy sharing it for the holidays.

As a local Seattle author and illustrator it was a very special project for me. Although I've illustrated more than 50 books for children over the years, I've never created one that was entirely local to the Northwest.

It was a fun to create these pictures and stories entirely for Washington state, which is my favorite state (I'm happy to confess). I hope I've been able to communicate some of that fun to the readers. If you're interested to invite me for a local school author visit just click on my online portfolio and schools page.

Happy Holidays! Ho! Ho! Ho!

Well done John. This looks like a fabulous book with so much gorgeous detail in it and all in your unique and developed style. I hope I am in a place where it is available before Christmas so that I can pick up a copy. Keep us posted on availability.

Thanks everyone! The book will be available in early October. But I'm not sure if they have a Barnes & Noble outlet in Nepal (where Stephen lives)!

I really luved the lush rich colors that photoshop enabled for this book. At times it felt almost 'symphonic' adding the textures and colors.
